Talk about a good omen to a new era...My first ever real-world-presented ambigram actually won an award! This was for UCR's "Chalk the Walk" art competition, and whadadya know, I won the "What side? R'Side!" category! I guess I'm an award winning artist now. Awesome.
Abigrams by Mike Matson
I have been creating ambigrams in my spare time for quite a while now. Specifically, the ambigrams designed by John Langdon in Dan Brown's novel "Angels and Demons" was the inspiration for this hobby of mine. Though I can't produce many at a quick pace, I really do enjoy this niche form of calligraphy, as well as the art of "seeing what you can get away with". I am open to suggestions or commissions and welcome the challenge.

My St Louis Cardinals have just barely made it to the postseason YET AGAIN! The wildcard seems to be our best friend.
This work took a while to finish, but I'm pretty happy with the result. Id like to widen some of the letters and make the spacing more consistent, but it still turned out pretty well.
The base design was made with InkScape as a .svg outline, then finished (cropping and color) with Paint.net.
Hopefully nobody notices the redbird logo and sues me...
